chatr mobile is a Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) owned by Rogers Communications.
At launch, chatr only made plan features available to select regions of the Rogers network. When TELUS launched competitive MVNO Public Mobile in 2015, chatr eliminated these "local talk zones" (previously dubbed "chatr zones") on plans featuring provincial or Canadian long distance and changed its name from chatr wireless to chatr mobile.
Zones were reintroduced in 2016 for the newly created unlimited data plan available to customers in Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto, Hamilton, and Niagara Falls. There, those with unlimited data plans gained unrestricted access to calling, texting, and 3G data within the "unlimited data zones".
See the chatr coverage map for more detail.
