Two new towers in the Kelowna-area of southern British Columbia have improved wireless service for local Rogers and Fido customers. Service expansion near Mouth Boucherie and Upper Okanagan Mission will provide more seamless access to the Rogers LTE network in the Jim Lund Area, West Kelowna City Hall, and Royal LePage Place to name a new specific locations. The LTE upgrades also bring improved quality for all VoLTE enabled devices in the area.
Rogers has also turned on 700 MHz spectrum, which provides better coverage in difficult to reach places such as basements, and buildings with thick concrete walls, so even more locals will have uninterrupted high-speed LTE service no matter what building they are in.
"We're investing in our wireless network to make sure our customers have access to our world-class LTE service in more places," said Perm Jawanda, Vice-President, Partner Retail Sales, Rogers Communications. "Whether you live in Kelowna or are in town to tour the city's famous wineries or catch a hockey game, our customers want to be able to connect with the people and things that matter to them, in more places. As communities in the B.C interior keep growing, we're committed to continuing to improve service for our Rogers and Fido customers."
"With this wireless service expansion, Rogers is investing in the Kelowna region's future as the community continues to grow," said Amrik Virk, Minister of Technology, Innovation and Citizens' Services. "Whether you're a local resident or visiting on holiday, you will always be connected to your loved ones, government services, learning opportunities and the world."
"This expanded coverage is great news for Kelowna residents and for visitors to our great city," said Doug Findlater, Mayor of West Kelowna. "Families and businesses will benefit from more seamless wireless service throughout the region."
