On Aug. 31, Samsung unveiled its new smartwatch, the Gear S2, which will arrive in Canada next month.
Mobile Syrup's Daniel Bader reported that the watch will be available through major retailers as well as at Samsung Experience stores.
The Gear S2 will be available in two models (pictured above): The Gear S2 Classic (left) and the Gear S2 (right).
"The (Gear S2) is a 'modern and minimal' with a metallic finish and sporty band, whereas the Gear S2 Classic has a 'timeless' black metal chassis and a black leather strap with exposed lugs," Bader wrote. " Itís unclear if, like the Apple Watch Sport and its regular counterpart, the two are made of different materials."
Best Buy Canada is releasing the watches on Oct. 2, pricing the Gear S2 at $399.99 and the Gear S2 Classic at $429.99.
This is Samsung's first truly round wearable and features a 1.2-inch 360x360 pixel OLED display, surrounded by a touch-sensitive rotating bezel. The metallic body is 11.4mm thin. Home and back buttons are placed on the right side of the watch. The watch will run the latest version of Samsung's Tizen operating system.
Similar to how the latest Apple iPads are equipped with Apple SIMs, the Gear S2 watches possess an integrated e-SIM, allowing the watch to connect with 3G networks without requiring a dedicated SIM card.
Mobile Syrup reported (Sept. 11) that Best Buy Canada is releasing both models on Oct. 2 (pre-ordering now available), with the Gear S2 priced at $399.99 and the Gear S2 Classic priced at $429.99.
