2015 is quickly shaping up to be the year of the Small, Medium and Large Smartphones. With Apple having jumped into the phablet marktet last year we'll see other manufacturers follow suit. See our predictions below and let us know what you think in the comments.
Small Smartphones we expect to see in 2015
With Apple having jumped to the larger 4.7" iPhone 6 we no longer have many smaller sized Smartphones to pick from. With the industry moving to bigger and bigger smartphones we expect the following smaller phones to be released this year.
Samsung Galaxy S6 mini - Samsung will continue to release their Galasy S mini line with the S6 mini.
Apple iPhone 6s lite - We think Apple has realized there is a pretty big market for an iPhone 5s sized Smartphone. The iPhone 6 is just a little too big for smaller hands.
Medium Sized Smartphones we expect in 2015
Over the past 18 months the "just right" Smartphone size has jumped up 4" to 4.5" - 5.0". Most of the Smartphones we expect to see this year will fall in this size range.
Apple iPhone 6s - Apple will continue to improve on their record selling iPhone 6 for 2015. Expect to see an improved camera, faster processor and maybe finally a sapphire display.
Samsung Galaxy S6 - Expect an improved camera, higher resolution screen, faster processor and a new all metal body.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge - We expect the same specs as the S6 but with their new Edge screen that they used on their Samsung Galaxy Note Edge released late last year.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Active - An updated rugged version of the Galaxy S6.
LG G4 - The LG G3 was well reviewed and LG will release the next version with the G4.
HTC One M9 - HTC will improve on their well received M8 with the M9.
Sony Xperia Z4 - Sony will improve on their well received Z3 with the Z4.
OnePlus Two - OnePlus couldn't meet demand for their first OnePlus One smartphone. We're pretty sure they'll announce a sucessor this year.
Microsoft Lumia 940 - Microsoft has taken over the Lumia line and needs to release something that will catch on with consumers.
Large Smartphones we Expect in 2015
The phablet smartphone market continues to grow with Apple having thrown their hat in the ring in 2014 with the iPhone 6 Plus. Exepct to see these 5.5"+ phablets later this year.
Apple iPhone 6s Plus - Just like the iPhone 6s Apple will make some small improvements with a possible sapphire display.
HTC One M9 Plus - HTC will jump on the phablet bandwagon with an M9 "Plus".
Samsung Galaxy Note 5 - Samsung will continue to improve on their very successful Note series.
LG G Flex 2 - The G Flex probably didn't sell a whole bunch but LG has to be in this phablet market.
Nexus 6 2015 - Google couldn't meet demand for the Nexus 6 so we'll think they'll try again with a new phone featuring Android M.
