Fido users will be happy, as today the company announced that LTE service will be available to customers this summer. The enhanced network will first be available in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal and St Johns, with more cities to launch throughout the year.
The first LTE-enabled device to be released with be the Fido Mobile Hotspot, which will wirelessly connect up to 10 Wi-Fi capable devices. LTE-enabled smartphones will be available later in the year, and all new phones will be capable of running on the Fido 4G HSPA+ network.
Fido plans to have LTE available across the country by the end of the year. Over the coming months, Fido plans to launch LTE in Moncton, Trois-Rivières, Sherbrooke, Québec City, Kingston, Ajax, Pickering, Oshawa, Oakville, Burlington, Hamilton, St. Catharines, Niagara, Windsor, Cambridge, Kitchener, Waterloo, Guelph, London, Barrie, Sudbury, Saskatoon, Regina, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Kelowna, Abbotsford and Victoria.
As we're already nearing the end of July, we expect to see the LTE network available sometime next month. Stay tuned!
