Rogers has released the
Nokia CS-18 Rocket™ Mobile Internet Stick, launched on postpaid last month, to its prepaid lineup. This is good news for light internet users - no long-term contracts, no overage rates - just a little internet access when you need it. The Nokia CS-18 is capable download speeds up to 21 Mbps, and has a microSD slot, expandable up to 32 GB. The Rocket™ Stick is available for $149.99, and you have a choice of 3 prepaid plans - $10 for 100 MB, $25 for 250 MB or $100 for 1,500 MB. You have 30 days to use the $10 and $25 plans, and 90 days to use the $100 plan. You must have a credit card registered to pay for your plan (they auto-renew, but you can log onto your account and cancel this at any time), but there is no activation fee, cancellation fee or GRRF (Government Regulatory Recovery Fee). The Rocket™ Stick is only intended for internet use, as text messaging is not available and all outgoing voice calls are blocked (incoming voice calls are charged at $1/minute). No roaming outside of Canada at this time.
