On Thursday Sony Ericsson reported a massive $236 million net loss for the fourth quarter of 2009. The company failed to respond to Touchsceen Smartphone demands.
Sony Ericsson press release stated: "The year-on-year decrease in both units and sales was mainly due to a downturn in the global handset market and a faster than anticipated shift to touch screen phones in the mid-priced sector of the market.
Sony Ericsson still managed to ship 14.6 million units for 4th Quarter 2009, a 3% increase over 3rd Quarter 2009. Unfortunately the 4th quarter numbers were down 40% over the previous year.
Sony Ericsson forecasts a slight growth in units in the global handset market in 2010.
In early January of this year Rogers announced that they will be bringing the Android based Sony Ericsson X10 in mid 2010.
