App Turns Windows 7 into Wi-Fi Hotspot

October 30, 2009

"Turn your Windows 7 laptop into a WiFi Hotspot to share the Internet with friends, co-workers, and mobile devices."

A Philadelphia-based software developer named Nomadio has taken advantage of a partially completed feature in Microsoft's new Windows 7 operating system to come up with a download that allows any computer to function as a wireless access point.

Nomadio's offering, called Connectify, is currently available in beta form for free, though the company is hoping to develop a more robust version under a pay model.
