Bad Service and Employees - Smart Communications - Telus - Cross Iron Mills - Calgary

Reviewed on Friday December 16, 2011 by Christina Raddatz, Calgary
I have had only bad experiences with this store. The sales representative is arrogant, and not helpful at all. They do not know their products or their technology. Not only that, they entered the phone as stolen and that has caused problems which made me lose my $150 deposit and my phone.

1. About September 2010 when I went in to inquire about a Blackberry phone that slides up to reveal a keyboard (Blackberry Torch), the salesperson name "Zee" persistent said that Blackberry will "never" be releasing any product like that. Not only was he unknowledgable, but he was also arrogant by suggesting that I know nothing about technology and talked to me in a way that appears that he knows more than we did. A couple weeks later the phone was actually released. This made me make a purchase decision on the Blackberry Bold that I would have gladly waited a couple of weeks to get the product that I wanted.

2. The serious problem is here. On October 2011, I went in to complain that my phone always dropped my "3G" connection and goes into lower case "edge" or "gprs",therefore not allowing me to browse the internet or receive or send BBM messages.

a) The first problem was the "Service" desk. When I approached the service desk, a girl was talking on the phone, so I waited patiently thinking that it was a business phone call. It turns out that she was complaining about her boyfriend to a friend. I waited more than 5 minutes and she still didn't get off while I was standing there. Another representative then came out. She quickly dismissed us saying that a phone cannot transfer data while there is a voice call. They clearly did not know their technology! We then call Telus Customer service waited for over an hour before someone came on and helped us.

Telus customer service then said that they will make a note in the system and we can go back into the store and tell them about this note. They finally took the phone, a $150 deposit, and gave me a loaner phone.

b) A month went by (November 2011) and I received a phone call saying that the phone is back from service and that I can pick up the phone. I drove all the way to Cross Iron Mills to pick it up. Upon arrival at Smart Communications, "Zee" tried to release my phone, but he finally realized that the phone was tagged "stolen" or someting like that, and that he cannot return the phone or the deposit until the main office gives the go ahead and said that it was safe to release the phone. My boyfriend then urged me to go back to get the manager's name to try and get assistance. We were talking to another girl, then "Zee" came out and said that the manager would not be able to help us and "Zee" was reluctant to give us a name.

It is now December 16 and more than a month has past and I still have not received a phone call from Smart Communications. I have lost my Blackberry Bold and $150 deposit. I will never go back to this store or any store with the Smart Communications name. I also want to terminate my contract and go with another mobile carrier because of this incident.
