Roaming

U.S roaming

While travelling within the U.S., the following voice, email, and Web service options are available:

  • Voice Calls: Use your phone to call back to Canada and within the US using your phone in the US Direct Connect.
  • Direct Connect: All Direct Connect minutes used while in the U.S. to call a U.S. number are local.
  • Data Services: Messaging, Wireless Web, and email are available in the U.S, and are billed by the megabyte (MB).

You can roam in more than 400 cities and over 60 percent of the U.S. without additional charges or registration fees.

US Roaming Rate:

  • Data: $5/MB
  • Voice: $1.75/minute

U.S. usage includes the 50 states, Puerto Rico and U.S. Virgin Islands.
U.S. roaming is also rounded to the closest KB when billed.
For on device data only—no tethering available.
US Travel charges may take up to 90 days to appear on your bill.


Travelling Internationally

Travelling to Argentina, Brazil, Mexico or Peru?

With our international roaming service, you can take your TELUS Mobility Mike phone to these countries and still get many of the great Mike features you enjoy at home, like private Direct Connect, wireless Web access and voice mail.

What you pay

  1. For calls originating and terminating within the International Country, dial the local number.
  2. For calls originating in the International Country and terminating in Canada or the US, dial + (plus sign), 1, the area code, then the phone number.
  3. For calls originating in the International Country and terminating in another International Country other than Canada or the US, dial + (plus sign), country code, then the phone number.

What you need to know

Before you roam internationally, you will need to activate International Calling on your account, which is subject to credit approval. To activate International Calling, you must call Client Care from within Canada. Dial *611 from your Mike phone or dial the local Client Care number.

For calls to Client Care from outside of Canada, you must dial + (plus sign), 1, and the 10-digit local Client Care number below that corresponds to your home region:


Things you need to know when you’re calling internationally:

  • Minutes used while roaming are not applied towards included minutes offered within your TELUS Mobility rate plan.
  • While roaming, voice mail deposits will be charged $1.24 per minute plus long distance from the international destination to Canada. If your phone is turned off, incoming calls sent to voice mail will not be charged.
  • To access voice mail from overseas, you will not be able to use the message keys on your handset. You will need to instead retrieve voice mail by dialing the + (plus sign), 1, and your 10-digit Mike number from your Mike phone. Normal airtime and long distance charges will apply.
