Sony Smartphones

What do PlayStation, Spider-Man, and recording artist Khalid have in common? All are under the Sony umbrella. Sony is a monster of a corporation with hands in seemingly everything. Among the many Sony subsidiaries is Sony Mobile which designs and manufactures phones under the Sony brand.

Sony Mobile, headquartered in Shinagawa, Tokyo, Japan, was founded as Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications in 2001 when Sony’s mobile division (at the time, just barely dabbling in the market) merged with the well-established Swedish company, Ericsson. Sony Ericsson is credited for helping bring about the cell phone camera revolution—producing some of the first phones that featured built-in digital cameras.

Having built phones on the Symbian OS and Windows Mobile, Sony Mobile phones are now running on Android.

Sony Ericsson had a number of different model names for their phones available on the market, but now as Sony Mobile, all of Sony’s phones fall under their brand, Xperia.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

Released to critical acclaim in 2015, the Sony Z5 Premium is a flagship-level high-end phone in Sony Mobile’s stable of devices. Its 5.5-inch screen is capable of displaying 4K resolution and its two-day battery life (mixed usage) will keep you going and going.

A 23MP rear-facing camera is sure to help budding photographers snap stunning pictures, while the 5MP front-facing camera is more than adequate for those looking to take cool selfies.

Powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor, the Sony Xperia Z5 premium has more than enough jump to handle modern multitasking needs.

The Xperia Z5 Premium comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop.
